Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade St Austell this year are again celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight in the town centre and at Eden.

Along with exhibitions and competitions will be the chance to meet Arsene Sourabie Baperma a member of WOUOL, a development association of 2000 rural members in western Burkino Faso, who grow and process Fairtrade dried fruit and nuts. As well as growing mangos himself, Arsene trains farmers and mango processors who work in the associations drying factories. He will be visiting the town centre on the afternoon of Thursday 26th February. St Augustines will be holding a Fairtrade Cafe on Friday 27th February and the town will play host to Eden and Fair’s Fair on Saturday 28th February. Come and sample and of course purchase Fairtrade goods for yourself.

Co-op St Austell will be doing special promotions throughout the whole fortnight.

Children were invited to take part in a poster competition depicting Fairtrade Its not just food. We had 188 entrants, the 2 winners will get the chance to meet Arsene, win a family entrance ticket to Eden and a Fairtrade Goody Bag and also get their entrants exhibited in the Engine House and at Co-op St Austell.
