The Debate on the Future of St Austell
This debate which will take place on Tuesday the 18th May 2010 and will be run by the St. Austell & District Chamber of Commerce & Industry as part of ”Cornwall Business Week”.
The aim of the debate is to invite a broad selection of people from business, the community and local government to explore the enormous potential of St Austell and the surrounding parishes, which is currently attracting exciting development projects.
The venue is the White River Cinema St Austell starting at 11am and finishing by 2.20pm after a buffet lunch.
The format will be: the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Paul Scott will welcome every one and introduce the speakers then hand over to the debate chairman James Staunton for Question Time.
There will be four 10 minute presentations and then a chance for the audience to ask questions of a panel of experts.

a) The local economy, employment and Skills training – Debbie Wiltshire-College Head
b) Tourism – Sam Weller – Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate
c) The impact and timing of the ECO Town – Samhi Sawiris – Eco-bos
d) The Market and Coastal Town Initiative (MCTi). A forward looking study in to how this area should develop over the next 20 years. -
Question Time The speakers will join James Staunton, the chair, to allow questions and comments to be taken from the audience. This session will last about one hour after which a buffet will be served.
