At a local level, the Chamber endeavors to maintain close working links with the regional offices of Central Government, Cornwall County Council, St Austell Town Council and other representative bodies. Regular contact is also established with our Member of Parliament – Steve Gilbert – to exchange views and information on Local, National and European matters.
As a result of new legislation, local authorities have a duty to consult with the Chambers of Commerce as well as Town or Parish Councils. The Chamber is often invited to appoint a representative to serve on a Working Party.
Through these contacts and regular meetings with elected members and officers of the various organisations that have a bearing on our daily lives, the Chamber continually seeks to put forward the views of its members.
